About me
Hi, I'm Jess! I'm an avid reader and a supporter of indie authors. I have nearly a decade of experience editing written works, ranging from technical government reports to fiction novels.
I am passionate about getting your written work into the hands of readers. I believe that the best stories are told from the heart, and indie authors excel at doing just that.
I started Book Ink and Joy because there are no prerequisites for being an author. Anyone can do it. You don't need an MFA, an English degree, or anything else. That's where I come in. I invested time and money into building a skill set to help independent authors with all levels of experience. I will help polish your manuscript for publication so that your brilliant stories are clear, cohesive, and consistent for readers.

Prior to Book Ink and Joy, I spent over eight years writing and editing government reports. I gained so much experience that easily translates into editing fiction.
After leaving government service, I enrolled in UC San Diego's Copyediting Certificate program to formalize my editing skills and gain deeper experience working with fiction.
Outside of work, you can find me relaxing with a good book, spending time with my family, or enjoying a coffee from my local bookstore.
I live in Tennessee, but I love working with authors from all over. If you're local, I'd love to grab a coffee or tea with you. If not, let's grab our own drinks and meet virtually!
